Celebrating 60 Years of Gilfresh

We reach a very significant milestone at Gilfresh Produce this year as we look forward to celebrating 60 years in business. We were delighted to officially launch our 60th Anniversary Celebrations at our recent staff summer barbeque.

Thomas, Ruth, and William Gilpin did the honours and cut the cake, to mark the beginning of what promises to be a memorable year for the team here at Gilfresh.

Gilfresh Produce was first established by Thomas Gilpin at his family home, just outside Portadown in 1965. Thomas, left school in the summer of 1965 at just 15 years old, and came home to work on the family farm where he started a remarkable journey in vegetable growing.

Thomas started the business off growing a small amount of scallions and cabbages in a 4 acre field to supply the Belfast Markets. The first taste of supplying retail customers came in the 1980’s, when we first started supplying Stewarts Supermarkets (now Tesco).

The business continued to grow and develop since then and we are now proud to supply many of the major retailers on the island of Ireland, with a wide range of fresh, quality vegetables. Thomas’s son, William Gilpin joined the business full time in 1999 and now leads the team from our current headquarters in Loughgall, Co. Armagh.

We look forward to shining a light on our history and celebrating this amazing milestone with our team over the coming year.
