Cultivating Careers in Agri-Food

BY Anne Mac Oscar

Richard Gilpin and Naomi Anderson from Gilfresh were delighted to attend Tandragee Junior High School last week to deliver a presentation to the school’s farming club.

During their visit, Richard and Naomi shared an engaging overview of our business and how it has evolved over the years, with a particular focus on our farm operations and the journey of fresh produce from field to fork.

The pupils were keen to learn about the processes involved in growing, harvesting, and preparing fresh vegetables, and asked some fantastic questions about the realities of working in the agri-food industry.

Richard and Naomi also highlighted the wide variety of exciting career opportunities available within the agri-food sector — from roles in farming and production to quality control, logistics, sales, marketing, and sustainability. It was inspiring to see the pupils’ enthusiasm and curiosity about the industry.

At Gilfresh, we are passionate about engaging with young people and helping them understand the vital role that agri-food plays in feeding communities and supporting local economies. Hopefully, we’ll see some of these bright young minds joining the Gilfresh team in years to come!
